The popular Langham Hotel on Eastbourne's beautiful seafront is now celebrating 50 years as a venue for bowls groups, having no less than seven bowls clubs within a two-mile radius.  The nearest bowls club is just 500 metres from the hotel, with two greens and twelve rinks, and another is less than a mile away with two greens, twelve rinks and bar facilities, making the Langham the perfect base for bowlers.  With two indoor clubs in Eastbourne as well, each with six rinks, bowlers can be guaranteed a game at anytime of year, no matter what the weather may be, so tours need not be limited to the summer months.

The AA four-star family-run hotel has 80 bedrooms, many with magnificent views across the bay, some with four poster beds, and one with an impressive new wet room.  The comfortable bar, terrace and lounge are ideal areas to socialise and relax. The restaurant offers superb food and has recently been awarded an AA Rosette for fine dining for the fifth year in succession.  The West Dean Suite function room also provides the ideal space for entertainment or presentations.

The hotel goes to great lengths to ensure good quality fixtures and many groups return time and again.  Over 25 Bowls Clubs, both indoor and outdoor, stay at the Langham each year, including Clevedon, Desborough, Falcon, Whittlesey, Hertfordshire, Peterborough, Wrotham, Leicester City, Writtle, Evesham, East Bergholt, Staniforth, Waveney, Ware, Southam, Frinton and North Mymms Bowls Clubs, plus Sutton Strollers, and many more are booked for the future.

The Langham is now the main sponsor of the Eastbourne Open Bowls Tournament for men, a five-star rated event played on Cumberland Turf greens around Eastbourne, with prizes totallling more than £2,000.  This year the hotel is also sponsoring new shirts for the local Royal Sovereign Bowls Club.

In 2009 Eastbourne was officially declared the sunniest place in the UK, fully justifying its nickname - The Sunshine Coast - but there's no need to worry if it rains, as the local indoor bowls club is available so that matches can still be played.

Situated at the foot of the South Downs, we are in an ideal position for sightseeing, with easy access to Brighton, Lewes, Hastings and Rye.  The town has an excellent shopping centre, five theatres and the newly-opened Towner Art Gallery, offering something for everyone.

Kirby Muxloe Bowls Club have just left having stayed for four days at the beginning of June.  Their organiser, Betty Malyon, has already booked to return next year as their members "enjoyed themselves so much".

A few more comments from our Bowls Groups:-

"On behalf of the Cheltenham bowling club I would like to thank you and your staff for a most enjoyable stay with you last week.  The organisation prior to our stay was excellent, the food superb, accommodation first class and the service from reception and all sectors of the hotel was tip top.  It was a most enjoyable visit and if we ever return to Eastbourne for another tour, which I most certainly hope we do, then your hotel will be right at the top of our list of where we would like to stay."
Campbell McColl, Cheltenham Bowling Club, July 2013

"Thank you for the hospitality provided by the Langham Hotel to the members of Bishop's Cleeve Bowling Club last weekend.  The food was excellent and the accommodation first class. I had no complaints about either food or rooms. Special mention was made on the friendly attitude of the staff. Please thank everyone involved for a very enjoyable few days at the Langham."
George Thomas, Club Secretary, Bishop's Cleeve Bowling Club, July 2013

"On behalf of the whole tour a huge thank you for making our week so enjoyable.  All aspects of the Hotel were great, from Claire co-ordinating before we arrived, all the reception staff, the restaurant staff directed by my friend Ali, the kitchen staff under head chef Mike and not forgetting the bar and cleaning staff.  All are a credit to you. They were all smart and did their job with a smile on their face.  A fantastic week hence my request for a price for 2016 already!
